What Is Chiropractic Manipulation?

Chiropractic manipulation, also known as Chiropractic adjustment, targets restricted joints in the spine and extremities and allows for a temporary increase in motion in those joints and surrounding tissues. Performing chiropractic manipulation generally consists of a shallow thrust to any restricted joint that may be linked to the cause of your problem. Patients may experience temporary increases in range of motion and decrease in pain or symptoms.

What is Adjusting or Manipulation for?

Chiropractors are notoriously known for adjusting or manipulation.

At Strength & Spine, spinal and extremity adjusting is described as "natural WD-40" and "natural ibuprofen'. It is described as a clinical tool to help with joints that lack a range of motion or don't move optimally and to help with pain relief by providing a neurophysiological pain-relieving effect.

Some common conditions adjusting is used for:

  • Back pain
  • Neck pain
  • Headaches
  • Migraines
  • Mid-back pain
  • Shoulder pain
  • Knee pain
  • Muscle Strain
  • Joint Sprain

Will Adjusting Help Me?

Clinical examination determines which treatment is best.

Following the in-depth clinical evaluation, the clinician will provide you with the best available options and treatments to help you with your pain and injury. Once deemed safe to treat, the determined effective treatments will be provided. Adjusting may not be the most effective treatment for certain conditions. If not, the clinician will provide a list of things that will help instead.
